Follow me through the Bible... (Today 1-28-11 - Job chapt. 8-10)

Background:  Sometime in mid 2009, we were in the first few chapters of the book of Luke in church.  Our pastor preaches verse by verse through a book of the Bible- from the beginning to the end (see why I like that approach?).  Pastor Rodney (aka, PR) got to a point one Sunday and stopped and I wanted to know what happened next.  So, I went home and read the rest of that particular chapter in Luke.  A couple of days later, I read some more of Luke.  This went on until I was getting up a few minutes early each day to read the Bible.  Some days it was a verse or two and some days it was a chapter or more.  It all depended on time.

Before long, I finished Luke so I read the book of John.  We were still in Luke in church.

After John, I read Matthew.  We were still in Luke in chuch.

After Matthew, I read Mark.  We were still in Luke in church. (I now had read what is referred to as the "Four Gospels")

After Mark I read Acts and kept on reading until I got to the end of Revelation.  We were still in Luke in church (It takes a while if you're going verse by verse but you learn more than you will ever know)

When I finished Revelation and the entire New Testatment, I thought "What do I do now?".  So.....

I read Genesis.  We were still in Luke in church.

After Genesis I read Exodus..............  you get the picture.

Here I am in the present day and we have about 2 chapters left in Luke at church (Yes, it is early Jan. 2011).  Where am I?  Well, that's the point of this page.  I'm going to post it in parenthesis in the title if you want to follow along.  My goal is to finish the ENTIRE Bible before PR gets through Luke by just reading a few verses each morning.  It will be close as I'm just over halfway through the Old Testament.  (Oh, I was blessed with PR taking a trip to Israel this month and that bought me some time. lol)

Follow and read along if you'd like!  I'd enjoy the company.

Side note:  I don't see this as a race - though I love the thought that I could actually finish the WHOLE Bible before PR finishes Luke.  Don't get it twisted - I have loved beyond measure the time I get to spend with God in the morning.  I have often thought it might be more convenient to do it later in the day but something about starting the day reading my Bible has kept me with this habit.

Oh, and if you are interested in a link to PR's media library - HERE it is.
